Men's Division I Top 20 Poll
March 23, 2009

Although they remain 1-2 in this week's CaseyPowellLacrosse.com / JustLacrosse.com Division I Poll, the combination of Virginia's thrilling win over Hopkins and Syracuse's seemingly lackluster performance against Binghamton convinced our last holdout that Virginia should indeed be a unanimous #1. And except for the UMass debut at #19, and Ivy's Harvard and Brown moving up three spots each, to #13 and #14 respectively, and Colgate up two to #16, there was very little change in the D-I Top 20.

Paying the price for those jumps were Army, Hobart and Georgetown, all moving down this week, and Albany who dropped out completely to make room for their 100-mile distant neighbor UMass.

In an interesting sidenote, the point totals show each of the top nine teams has a solid hold on their position, while Hofstra just edged out UNC for the tenth spot. It seems after that, though, there is a huge drop off in confidence in the rest of the field.

Our poll is voted on by a group of highly respected and knowledgeable individuals from the upstate lacrosse community. Links to our Pre-season Poll, as well as collective look at our group of voters can be found at our Poll Archives page.
