Nine teams were crowned champions in the adult divisions Sunday at the Lake Placid Summit Lacrosse Classic, wrapping up the 25th year of the annual tournament that brings more than 230 teams to the High Peaks region of the Adirondack Mountains.

Team Power-Tek is starting to get very comfortable playing in the men's open 1 division of the Lake Placid Summit Lacrosse Classic. Made up mostly of current and past Colgate University players, Power-Tek won its third-straight championship Sunday in dominating fashion with a 10-5 victory over the Select Sector SPDRs. Power-Tek has advanced to the title game five of the last six years.

For most players at the Lake Placid Summit Lacrosse Classic, winning is far from the most important part of the tournament. Many come to Lake Placid to reconnect with old friends and teammates while playing the game they love in a relaxing atmosphere in the shadows of the picturesque mountains of Northern New York. Camaraderie is everything. Game results become secondary.

A number of high profile games will be held at the North Elba Athletic Fields on championship Sunday, headlined by the Motive Pure and Graph-Tex squads facing off for the Menís Masters 1 division championship at 1:10 p.m. ET.

Friday welcomed in perfect weather in the High Peaks region for the 25th Lake Placid Summit Classic for Day 5 from Lake Placid, N.Y. The beginning of the Menís Open divisions highlighted the dayís action, along with a big upset in the Menís Masterís 1 group, with the Grayíd Danes knocking off the Burnt Orange 7-5 to advance to Saturdayís Semifinals.

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. ó The scholastic champions across seven different divisions were crowned Wednesday at the 25th annual Lake Placid Summit Lacrosse Classic, benefitting the Wounded Warrior Project. In one of the most competitive games of the afternoon, the 3d New England College Prep team outlasted the Baltimore Crabs 9-7, with defender Erik Persky (New Canaan, Conn./University of Pennsylvania) earning MVP honors.

"It means a lot (to win the championship)," said MVP Drew Supinski of FCA. "This week we all met on Saturday and really from then on we started bonding as a team, and our main goal was just to be all in, and we really wanted to come up here and win and try our best." This was FCA's fourth-straight title in this division.

The Sailin' Shoe team has been part of the Lake Placid Summit Lacrosse Classic since its inception 25 years ago. It all began in a car with Jake Reed and Jeff Long, who were listening to the band Little Feat play their hit song "Sailin' Shoes." Reed was the head lacrosse coach of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Long headed the program at Ithaca College. The two were on their way to watch some games in search of potential recruits.

For as much lacrosse as there is being played in New York State, thereís still a lot of room for growth, especially when it comes to girls lacrosse. Lily Corrigan of the Bethlehem Lacrosse Club is one of the individuals at the forefront of the growth of womenís lacrosse in the Capital Region. For the second straight year, sheís brought teams to Lake Placid to help some of her most dedicated players develop and play against elite competition.

The 25th annual Lake Placid Summit Lacrosse Classic, benefitting the Wounded Warrior Project, kicked off Monday as the scholastic divisions got underway in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains. Nearly 240 teams will compete at the event throughout the week. More than 80 took the field Monday to start off the 25th anniversary of the summerís most popular all-ages lacrosse tournament. The championships of the four boys divisions and three girls divisions will be held on Wednesday, which also marks the start of the menís 50-and-over divisions, as the Super Grand Masters and Ultra Grand Masters kick off play Wednesday afternoon. The Lake Placid Summit Lacrosse Tournament started out as a gathering of seven teams playing 14 games on a rainy weekend. Tournament director George Leveille thought that would be the end of it. The tournament not only returned the next year, it doubled in size. That trend continued through the years to create what is now one of the largest and most competitive summer lacrosse tournaments in the country.

In the midst of 250 lacrosse teams playing over 500 games next week, Dickís Sporting Goods has announced that organizers of the 25th annual Lake Placid Summit Lacrosse Tournament will offer clinics for boys and girls ages 8-14 at the North Elba Horse Show Grounds in Lake Placid. Three free clinics will be presented in conjunction with Under Armour.

The worlds of sports and culture will intersect at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts on Tuesday night, Aug. 5, as the Lake Placid Summit Lacrosse presents the film ďAmericaís First GameĒ, followed by a lacrosse symposium.

The Lake Placid Summit Lacrosse Classic, entering its 25th annual event this summer in the two-time Winter Olympic village, has announced a corporate partnership with Dickís Sporting Goods.

"We are very excited to team up with Lake Placid Summit Lacrosse for their 25th anniversary event. Lake Placid Lacrosse is hosting more than 245 teams playing in 18 divisions of competition during the 25th Annual Lake Placid Summit Lacrosse Classic, August 4-10. As part of this celebration, Lake Placid Lacrosse is standing behind Wounded Warrior Projectģ (WWP) to promote awareness of WWPís mission and to help raise funds to assist this generation of servicemen and women who were injured while serving our country. A series of special events will be incorporated into the week-long tournament as part of the Legends of Placid Lacrosse celebration of the eventís first twenty- five years in Lake Placid.
