There are probably more lacrosse players in the U.S. than hockey players, so you wouldn’t think recruitment would be a concern. Still, over the years, I’ve found that the guys I want on my lacrosse team are the guys who also play hockey.

“I have talked to someone that has gone through a similar process recently with their team. One thing that their athletic director brought up was that everytime that you host something – a lacrosse tournament is hosted on Friday, Saturday in the spring – all those families that get to stay close in the Dryden community save money, and all those families that are traveling in are going to spend money in the community. … I think in the long term it’s a huge, huge plus for the community.”

There are nine locks to make the Chrome LC protected roster: Jordan Wolf, Justin Guterding, Jordan MacIntosh, Ned Crotty, John Ranagan, Connor Farrell, Will Haus, Joel White, and goalie John Galloway. Two spots are up for grabs. Most of those locks are offense players. That makes sense; Chrome was the most efficient six-on-six offense in the league last summer. The toughest decision for head coach Tim Soudan: Should he protect his former players or a pair of younger players with sky-high potential?

Syracuse, N.Y. -- Lyle Thompson certainly did enough on the lacrosse field in high school to be in the discussion as Central New York’s top high school athlete of the past decade.

But the 2011 graduate of LaFayette High School, who was raised on the Onondaga Reservation, has evolved from local star to one of the faces of his sport.

Syracuse, N.Y. -- It seems almost silly to debate the top female high school athlete of the decade in Central New York. Breanna Stewart accomplished so much in basketball at Cicero-North Syracuse High School — she left in 2012 as the Gatorade National Player of the Year and the area’s all-time scorer with 2,367 points.

Is it former Skaneateles lacrosse superstar Kyla Sears (‘17), who is in the midst of a great career at Princeton?

Georgia has to be an odds on fave to end up in the NLL final in 2020. This team is fuelled by a power plant of an offense that can fire on all cylinders. Up front their group of seven is as good as any offense in lacrosse, possessing size, speed, skill and Lyle Thompson's brush strokes. Georgia gets to the net and it can be any one of Randy Staats, a Thompson or Shayne Jackson doing serious damage. The Swarm didn’t get touched up in dispersal too bad and the return of Jordan Hall and Joel White erase any losses. Look for a breakout year from Zed Williams on the score sheet.
