All it took was one last move — a spin through tangled legs, a fall to the ground, and a shot — in one fluid motion, to bring Syracuse’s lead back to three.

Dami Oladunmoye shook his head and bopped with “I’m Shipping Up to Boston” blaring on the loudspeakers after Brendan Curry’s goal put Syracuse up 17-12. Hobart (3-1) and the Orange (4-0) traded goals for most of the third quarter, but a 4-0 run at the end of the third frame that carried over into the fourth gave SU space. Then Curry’s goal after the Statesmen snapped the run would start a run of play where the two teams again went back-and-forth with goals, but SU was in control and went on to win, 21-13.

The winner of the scholarship will be awarded $1,000. To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must be of Native American descent and residents of Western New York or Southern Ontario. The Buffalo Bandits today announced the team will host its seventh annual Tucker Out Lymphoma Night when the Halifax Thunderbirds visit KeyBank Center on Saturday, Feb. 29 at 7 p.m.

The evening will honor the memory of Tucker Williams. Tucker, the son of former Bandits player Shawn Williams, lost his battle with Burkitt lymphoma in 2014. Dylana Williams, Tucker’s sister, will sing the Canadian national anthem prior to the game. During the game, both Bandits and Thunderbirds players will wear special “Braver Than Brave” jerseys that were designed by Tucker’s brother, Dyson Williams. A special game ball featuring the Tucker Out Lymphoma logo will also be used throughout the contest.

GENEVA, N.Y.- The William Smith College lacrosse team will host Oswego Saturday, Feb. 29, to open the home portion of its schedule. The teams will play on Stiles Field at the Thomas B. Poole '61 and Family Sports Dome. Opening Draw is scheduled for 1 p.m.

Due to state fire code, occupancy of the dome is limited to 299 people, including student-athletes, coaches, officials and game management staff. Admission to the game will be restricted to people on the teams' pass lists. There will be no general admission.

While it was a rough opener for the University at Albany men's lacrosse team, which lost to Cornell 19-10 last Saturday, Great Danes assistant coach John Maloney and defenseman Tanner Hay had reason to smile when they looked over at the Big Red sideline.

There was Cornell senior attack Ryan Maloney, who is John's younger brother and Hay's cousin. Ryan Maloney isn't playing this season, but just the fact he was able to stand was a feat in itself, seven months after doctors said he would probably never walk again.

It was the last place Jack Brennan expected to be, and for a reason he could not fathom. Four days before his collegiate lacrosse debut, Brennan, a freshman attackman at Maryland, was back home in upstate New York, mourning the death of the man who helped introduce him to the sport.

The Buffalo Bandits are welcoming the Rochester Knighthawks to the Key Bank Center for the first time this season on Friday night. The Bandits are coming off a nail-biting 13-12 overtime win on the road in Colorado, putting them at a much respectable second place in the North Division with a 4-1 record.
