Once again the Baldwinsville boys varsity lacrosse team will make an early season trip to Virginia to compete with some of the top programs in the country at the Albemarle Spring Jamboree March 24-26. The boys will be hosted by the families of the Albemarle boys team, and begin the tournament with a game against Albemarle on Friday.
Saturday will be busy for the Bees as they begin the day playing Penn Charter, PA., at 8:00, then follow that with games against three teams that finished in the top 25 in the country last year, according to the LaxPower National Coaches/Computer Ratings. At 9:00 they face #22 Upper Arlington, VA., then at 10:00 it's #15 Haverford, PA., coached by Baldwinsville grad John Nostrandt. The Bees face McDonogh, the team that finished last season tied with West Genesee at #1 in the nation, at 11:00.
All the teams get both a break and a treat in the early afternoon as they gather at UVa to watch the Caviliers face Johns Hopkins in an NCAA Division I matchup before returning to the fields at 4:00.
Baldwinsville finishes the day against Hillard Davidson of Ohio, and Richmond Shock, VA. The Bees travel home on Sunday.
Haverford's John Nostrandt won't be the only former Bee at Albemarle. Tournament Director Jim Loffredo, an All-American at Ohio Wesleyan in 1995 and currently one of the top face-off coaches in the country is 1991 B'ville grad.
